December Sketches for Stick It Down

 Ice, Ice Baby

Time for the last sketches of 2021 over at Stickitdown.blogspot.com

For this one, I used a large snowflake mask and applied some distress oxide around it.  I then traced the snowflake mask to add some interest for the background.

We had a hard freeze with some frozen precip here in Louisiana earlier in the year.  We actually has snowflakes but not enough to make snowmen with.  This page is just about my youngest exploring the ice and my poor dog, who was so cold.

 Thanks for looking!

Be sure to check out the double page challenge as well:

For this one, I stuck with the holiday theme.  My photos from last Christmas are not the best but the memories still need to be documented!

I used Vicki Boutin's Warm Wishes on this layout.  I die cut some branches out of a glitter paper to add interest and dimension.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

Up next, double page sketch for this month..

I did a double page spread using PaperHouse studios papers.  Hubs and I made it to an super hot LSU game this year.  I need to add some journaling to finish this one off.
Here are some close ups:

On this one, I used my Cricut to cut the title out of a gold gel plate print I had on hand.

I added some Vicki Boutin splat stamps in white and gold to continue the splat theme from the paper on the right.

Thanks for looking!

Tell Your Story-October Single Page Sketch at SID

Time for the single page sketch for October over at Stick it Down!

I'll be honest, hexagons are not my favorite.  I really struggled with this one and even thought of using different shapes.

Here's a closer look:

I have mostly scraps from Vicki Boutin's Wildflower and Honey collection.  I decided to stick with that collection since there were some hexagon shapes featured on some papers, stickers and stamps.  I used my cricut to cut the hexagon background.  The woodgrain paper is Simple Stories.  I die cut the flowers from a gel print I made with gold paste.  Thanks for looking and be sure to play along this month at Stickitdown.blogspot.com

Here is my take on it:

I used a mix of papers for this one.  I used P13 wood grain paper as the base.  I had some Photoplay papers in my stash that I used for the gingham and florals.  I used Vicki Boutin die cuts and punched some leaves.  Thanks for looking!

July Single Page Sketch at Stick It Down

 Soda-Lighted

Here is my take on the July single page sketch over at Stickitdown.blogspot.com

Here is a little closer detail (not too close though to see all my mistakes)!

I used lots of Doodlebug on this one.  I thought the soda embellies were perfect for my photos.  Instead of using balloons, I decided to use soda bubbles.  I made shakers out of the bubbles.  The bubbles, title and background frames were all cut with a Cricut.

May Mid Month Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash

This month's sketch challenge over at Scrapourstash.blogspot.com:

I started making a background with this month's color kit from Shimmerz.  I thought the colors went well with the Vicki Boutin Color Study line.  After applying the media and letting it dry, I cut it down to 10x10.  With a pencil and circle template, I traced circles around and then pierced holes along the penciled lines.  I hand stitched the areas that were visible.  I'll go back and add some journaling later.

Thanks for looking and be sure to join in on the challenges over at Scrap Our Stash.

Stick It Down May Single Page Sketch

It's time again for the SID single page sketch!

What started out as my idea of the triangle being on the same side as the sketch, wound up being on the other side because of the way the grass was facing on the patterned paper.  I wasn't paying close attention to that when cutting my patterned grass paper.  So that's why I had to flip the sketch a bit.  I used a lot of Bella Blvd Cooper on this one.  I channeled Lisa Fonesca for my die cut dog.  I also outlined him in hand stitching.  I added more layers by adding punched leaves.   Thanks for looking and be sure to play along and enter over at Stickitdown.blogspot.com!

Scrap Our Stash Remix Challenge April 2021

Here is my take on the April Challenge over at Scrap Our Stash.

For this one we had to remix the above layout and use a butterfly embellishment on our layout.  I decided to scrap two pics from 2017.  Hubs and I were sweating our patooties off at a soccer game for our daughter.  The notebook paper is Dear Lizzy, yellow dot paper is Bella Blvd and the speckled black paper is Amy Tangerine.  I decided to add some stamps in the background for interest.  I added some tiny heart stamps to make small butterflies for the butterfly requirement.  Cricut Design Space recently added the shadow layering feature.  I shadow layered all of the title to make it stand out a bit more.  I am super stoked Cricut finally added that feature.

Stick It Down April 2021 Single Page Sketch

Say Cheese

Here is my take on this month's sketch over at Stick It Down.

Sometimes I let the photo dictate the direction of my page.  This time I decided to do some stash busting and let my stash dictate the direction of the page.  I had a leftover cut out heart from Vicki Boutin's premade mixed media pad.  I decided to pair that with some of Color Kaleidoscope.  I fussy cut the flowers out of one of the papers from that collection.  I decided to add some interest with stamped white circles.  I added some dimension with twine and die cut leaves.

Lockdown Memories (Lasting Memories Guest Designer Layout Number 3)

This week's challenge sketch over at Lasting Memories:

Here is my take on it:

I wanted to use some Pandemic themed cutfiles from Pear Tree Cutfiles for these photos.  The title and virus circles are from Pear Tree.  I used mostly Simple Stories on this one.  I had some of the Quarantine papers.  I pulled some wood grain from a paper pad to use as the base.  I thought that would be a nice neutral to compliment the colors.  I finished it off with some torn edges, stamping and a few stickers.  Thanks for looking!

For the 2nd challenge this month over at Lasting Memories, is the sketch pictured above.

Here is my take on it:

March Challenge at Scrap Our Stash

Adventure Time

Here's my take on the March first of the month challenge over at Scrap Our Stash

I looked to my photo for inspiration on this one.  I knew I wanted to use purples to highlight my photo.  I used most of the papers from Paige Evans Bloom Street.  The peach paper is Illustrated Faith.
I printed the Adventure Time characters and punched them out.  Thanks for looking and be sure to join us over at Scrap Our Stash.

Here and Now

February Mid Month Sketch Challenge at Scrap Our Stash

I decided to use Vicki Boutin's Wildflower and Honey collection to scrap a photo of my husband assembling IKEA furniture.  It's not a small task and I was so elated that he tackled it head on with zero complaints.  I love that man!

I started off with some Vicki Boutin Foundations paper.  I added some wet distress oxides, dried them.  Then I stenciled over that with a Vicki Boutin stencil.  I had those black shapes cut out previously and never used them.  I thought it worked well against the bright colors.  I'm working with mostly scraps from this collection but I made it work!

Oxide colors used:  Abandoned Coral, Pine Needles and Wild Honey

Thanks for looking and hope you play along with the mid month sketch challenge over at Scrap Our Stash!

Zoo Adventure

Stick It Down February Double Page Sketch

Here is my take on the February Double Page Sketch over at Stick It Down.

These photos are from when my youngest had a "camp out" at the local zoo.  They had a lot of fun and got a personal tour of the zoo.

I used Echo Park Jungle Safari papers.  I cut the palm leaves, giraffe silhouettes and title with my Cricut.  All were from Design Space.  I didn't like the look of plain cardstock so I lined the green palms with clear Nuvo drops, stamped a Kaisercraft grid stamp on the kraft colored palms and lined the title in various colors.  I also added some stenciled distressed type lines with some matte paste.

Thanks for looking and be sure to play along at Stickitdown.blogspot.com!
